Please do not submit these types of characters, they will NOT be accepted.
That's all! Sorry to crush your dreams!
- Just not allowed here: (They're okay anywhere else)
- x-men
- supper-heros
- angels (sorry)
- demons (sorry)
- Space soliders or "heroic" alien soliders on a misson to save the galaxy! (no...just no...you know what i'm talking about)
- Rip Offs:
Characters that are EXACTLY like other characters from other cartoons, movies, books, plays, comic books, mangas, animes. It's boring, plagiarism, and just not cool.
It's okay to use pictures from other sources as long as you change the name and come up with your own original history and personality. Because the other problem with these "rip offs" is that they tend to post off topic things that have NOTHING to do with the plot on the actual website.
Example: On a website located in a western town around 1800's, where vampires wolves and witches roam. THIS was posted:
Keiran Wondered through the graveyard, looking around for a way to pass the time. He quickly noted that more human bones than normal for a graveyard were all over the place. He tensed up a little bit, knowing that a homunculus was nearby. Suddenly a man walked up, and called, "Boy. Why are you here so late at night?"
"I'm looking for a homunculus."
The man looked curiously at Keiran than quickly snapped his fingers. As the ground exploded as five homunculi came out of the ground, Keiran pulled out his Kakugane.
"Buso Renkin of the Energy Blade: Infinity Edge!"
He quickly engaged the five attackers.
WHAT?! This clearly has nothing to do with the storyline, and seems like a badly written excerpt right out of FMA. NEVER let THIS be YOU!!!!!!!!!!! - The Classic Marry-Sue
AHHHHHH! NO! NOT THE DREADED MARRY-SUE! Yes we have all experienced this horrible travesty at one point or another. The Character that is beautiful, talented, kind, perfect in every way, and can survive anything. They have no faults what so ever, until it gets to the point where it is REALLY ANNOYING.
Example:
Female:
Miracle shimmerhart swept down the marble stair case. Her lips were like roses and her eyes dripped like stars. She was so beautiful that when she walked across the lobby everyone stopped what they were doing to look at her. She carried her familiar which was a beautiful purple and gold miny tiger. She floated down the street.
Other role player: A car swerved when it saw her and knocked straight into a tree. The tree came un-rooted and hit a telephone pole. Power lines fell straight twoard her.
stupid-marry-sue: She was fine. With her magic powers she escaped. Everyone could see how wonderful and powerful she was. She went over and kissed the tree. It healed instantly and turned to pure gold.
>.>" No. This destroyes conflicts and is ANNOYING. BEWARE THE MARRY-SUE! (for some reason their kisses always taste like strawberries) - Garry-Stew: The dreaded MALE version of the Mary-Sue!
Exmaple: Gene Starwind lifted up his sword and vanquished his enemies, saving the princess! He won because his fire-ice-wind-earth-sword was more powerful than any other blade in exsistence!
Other-role-player: But so-and-so parried the thrust! "Ha! you don't know everything!"
Garry-Stew: "But yes i DO! I learned a bunch of magiK from a wizard! And I'm the GOOD GUY so i ALWAYS WIN!!! And i'm so much more manly and handsome!"
Random-female-role-player: *swoons* "Oh! You're sooo handsome and MANLY! Thank you for saving me! And thanks for g-moding!
Yeah...nuuu commentz....Remember fellas, back down sometimes. The good guy doesn't always win. He doesn't always know everything, and a character's "tortured past" doesn't excuse obnoxious behavior in the present. (It's also a cliche plot point.) And girls, this ISN'T SEXY BEHAVIOR! Just because you're so desperate you're willing to date online, DON'T DATE A GARRY-STEW!
- Characters with lots of NPC's:
If your character depends solely on the exsistence of many NPC's don't make them. NPC's can be aggrivating as well. For instance a detective who has a whole staff or two 'sidekicks'. NPC's can be a cheat for "finding things out" things that your character shouldn't know about, or how to do.
Example:
Detective Orcot was not strong enough to open the large solid steel door. He had puzzled over it for hours. he also was very wary of booby traps and didn't know where to begin. But the faithful baker whom he had helped earlier came to his rescue!
"I know how to open this door! Let me do it! You would die if it wasn't for me! The random civilian baker who some how Knows the secret of our village treasure! Just pull that loose bolt!
TSNF! That's such a cheat and nussince
That's all! Sorry to crush your dreams!
